Why have different size sailboats sails?

Candles are basically bearing surfaces (such as aircraft wing sections) when driving a boat into the wind. The wind flows through them produces "lift" in a similar manner. That "lift" pulls the front of the boat. Based on 2 sails (mainsail and jib) have a point called the "center of pressure." The center of the combined pressure of both candles produce a balance near the center of lateral pressure hull and the keel. This is a point where if you pushed to the side of the helmet, which does not rotate, but move to the sides only. Often, the arm is a "Genoa" pen, and extends back right side of the mainsail, the addition of unity through the formation of a "slot" between the two candles. The additional area not materially affect the balance between the hull and the sailing center of pressure, but produces more "up." Sails are pulled in close when a boat is beating in the wind, but when running before the wind, its action is more like a parachute, providing the largest area as possible to the wind. Another candle, known as "committed", but really a spinnaker, is used to wind direction or "broad" scope (sailing to the leeward side), and flying high as this provides then "lift" up to the bow, with a tendency to struggle against the bow being pushed by the other candles. If the arc is level, can allow the helmet to move more quickly through the water.
